Great Barrier Reef’s World Heritage listing under threat

The UN has given Australia one year to fix the damaged Great Barrier Reef or it will be officially listed as ‘endangered.’ Environmentalists are worried the current efforts to preserve the site aren’t doing enough to fix the reef in time, but the government says they are more optimistic.

Two major reports recently released that look into the health of the reef show that some areas are doing well at the World Heritage site, but many are diminishing.
