Govt criticised on Indonesia, ALP on softly softly approach to refugee policy
Refugee advocates have hit out at what they label as the inability of the Labor federal opposition to provide a fresh new approach on asylum policies, six years on the from tamper crisis. Jack Smit from Project Safe Com, a social justice website that campaigns on a number of issues including refugees, has blasted the Federal Labor Opposition’s cautious approach on refugee issues, in the lead up to the Federal election. Meanwhile, refugee advocates are still processing plans announced last week that the Australian government may seek to expand its controversial offshore processing system to include Indonesia.
