Government told to get its act together on accessible software

A federal parliamentary committee has told the public sector to develop a government-wide policy on purchasing software that’s accessible for people with a disability. Advocates say that if the government leads the way, accessible software will become cheaper and more available for everyone who needs it.

Disability Policy Advisor with the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network, Wayne Hawkins told The Wire that his difficulties in trying to read the committee’s report today show how much work still needs to be done.
