Government settles in Christmas Island child detention case

Yesterday, the Victorian Supreme Court approved the settlement of a nine-year-old girl’s damages claim relating to her detention on Christmas Island.

However, a class action claim has been ruled out, and questions have been raised about where this leaves other detainees who have suffered physical and mental harm.
