Government backs down from Wellington weir plans

For four years, The River Lakes and Coorong Actions Group have been campaigning to stop the damming of the lower River Murray at Wellington. Finally, their prayers have been answered. With improved water flow down the river, South Australian Premier Mike Rann announced yesterday, that the Wellington weir would not go ahead. Professor Diane Bell from the Action Group told The Wires Melissa Gray how she felt when she heard the news.
