It has been a chaotic few weeks for education funding. The Coalition pledged to match Labor’s commitment before the election, but all of that was thrown up in the air last week. At a press conference today the Coalition announced that they have signed three new states to the Gonski deals, and that funding has been restored. But a lack of conditions on the funding worries some education activists. They say the lack of oversight could see states cutting funding, or not enacting the targeted spending that Gonski envisioned.
