The landmark case of an organic farmer suing a GM farmer ended yesterday, with the WA Supreme Court ruling in favour of the latter. The court found Steve Marsh’s neighbour, Michael Baxter, was not liable for the contamination of Marsh’s organic canola crop. The decision has divided the industry; GM supporters say organic certification is flawed, while non-GM advocates want the laws changed and fear a damaging precedent has been set.
