GM Canola crops are now legal in SA

A mix of anti-GM activists, farmers and scientists showed their concern outside South Australia’s parliament this week, as the lifting of the GM moratorium in SA starts to take effect. Both sides of Parliament voted to lift the moratorium, the last one remaining in Australia except for Tasmania, with the proviso that regional councils could apply to stay GM free. Uncertainty about whether that will be allowed to happen as well as concern about contamination when GM crops end up side by side with organic ones.
