Julia Gillard today announced that private schools would receive extra money under the government’s shakeup of education funding. The government had already guaranteed that no school would be worse off under the government’s response to the Gonski review. But the announcement of extra funding for private schools has raised eyebrows among some observers, especially given the already-significant cost of the Gonski reforms.
