In California last week a federal judge overturned a voter approved law banning gay marriage on the grounds the law was unconstitutional. While the debate over gay marriage is now raging across the U. S, barely a mention of it has registered on the Australian political agenda in the lead up to the election. Given that according to a recent Galaxy poll over half the Australian population support gay marriage, it seems odd neither of the major political parties have publicly supported gay marriage law reform.
