Faith-based organisations currently enjoy an exemption from discrimination law in some areas. As part of the NDIS, some services previously provided by governments are likely to be handed over to these organisations. That has one Independent NSW MP concerned that people with a disability may experience discrimination as the basis of their sexuality.

The Wire contacted the NSW government minister John Ajaka for comment, but was unable to get a response in time for this broadcast. Alex Greenwich has proposed amendments to the NDIS enabling bill in NSW that would prevent service providers from discriminating on the basis of sexuality. The Wire understands that the government is unlikely to accept these amendments.
