Gas hub rejection boosts greens vote
The Liberal party made some striking gains in the Western Australia election over the weekend, but there was one part of the state where they made very little progress. That was in the seat of Kimberley. It’s an area larger than Spain that covers the proposed site of the controversial james price point gas hub. The greens were the only major party to reject of the James Price Point project which has resulted in them receiving a remarkable 25% of the vote.
It’s still not clear who will win the seat of Kimberley, but with Colin Barnett’s liberal government re-elected it seems the state government will continue to push for the gas hub project to go ahead.
