The diminishing population of the rare Gangetic Dolphin now faces an additional existential threat from a large scale water extraction project.

Adani is building a massive coal fired power station in Godda and plans to extract millions of cubic metres  of water from  the lower Ganges every year.

The extracted water will be pumped to the power station, now under construction, where it will be used to wash coal, to manage industrial wastes, and to generate steam to power the turbines.
