The prevalent ‘gamble responsibly’ tag that is featured in gambling advertisements around the country will soon be replaced.

Social Services Minister, Amanda Rishworth, has annoucned federal government reforms to legislation that will introduce seven new phrases that gambling companies will have to use to replace ‘gamble responsibly’. Options include “You win some. You lose more”, “What’s gambling really costing you?” and “Imagine what you could be buying instead.”

Advertisements must also include advice on how to seek support through Gambling Help Online.

The government says the reforms will help with the negative impact gambling has had on many Australians, so The Wire investigated the effectiveness of these policies.
