The outcome of the G8 talks in L’Aquila in Italy have been hailed by some as offering hope that the world may be able to agree on targets to reduce the carbon in the atmosphere, by others as a disappointment World leaders have agreed that by 2050 developed countries will need to reduce carbon emissions by 80%, and developing countries by 50%, and that the world temperature can only be two degrees above pre-industrial levels .
