Future of charities regulator finally secured

The government has lost another battle to abolish another federal agency, releasing a statement today saying they will continue funding the charities regulator into the future. They came into office in 2013 promising to abolish the Charities and Not for Profits Commission at the urging of the Catholic church in particular. But today Social Services Minister Christian Porter said the government would be keeping the body in place due to “sufficient support” within the sector.
