Foreign Minister Alexander Downer was given a hard time by the crowd at a debate in Adelaide last night. The debate, organised by Oxfam, brought together the key foreign policy figures from the government, opposition, Democrats and Greens to tackle the question of how to make the world more secure. Oxfam has developed its own blueprint on how Australia’s foreign policy needs to change. Annie Hastwell spoke to Oxfam’s Director of Public Policy James Ensor, who says addressing poverty and hunger in the third world is a good place to start.
