It may have vast open plains, cattle and gold, and be West, but that doesn’t mean Western Australia is a lawless state. The Law Reform Commission has launched a broad report that discusses Aboriginal People and all aspects of the law. The Northern Territory, once considered its frontier partner, is yet to issue such a report or address the complexities of Aboriginal people in the legal system. Western Australia’s Attorney General Jim McGinty, Peter Collins, Director of Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) Western Australia and Chris Howes, Lawyer with Northern Territory’s Aboriginal Justice Action Committee(AJAC) spoke to the Wire.
