From fabulous to the feral: Australian wildlife in the spotlight

Today, March 3rd, is World Wildlife Day – a day dedicated to celebrating and raising awareness of wild animal and plant species across the globe. Here in Australia we’re also celebrating a breakthrough with one of our own native species. A team at Melbourne Aquarium has successfully bred 45 weedy sea dragons, which are a near-threatened species and notoriously difficult to breed in captivity. While acknowledging this positive development, an invasion biogeography expert says our government and society need to do more for wildlife protection.
