Although Labor and Liberal are locked in mortal combat over one small part of the Free Trade Agreement with the US, an aspect of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. Other issues have been debated too, such as sugar, manufacturing jobs and Aussie culture. But has anyone even considered the impact the agreement may have on Australia’s fragile environment? Meg Lees has, and she explained concerns to Annie Hastwell. They include losing control over quarantine laws, environmental protection being challenged in court and the capture of wild animals.
