Today is a birthday of sorts for free speech in Singapore, a country not normally known for its liberal values. It’s the fourth anniversary of Speakers’ Corner, an exercise in open-air soapbox politics, modelled on the more famous one in London’s Hyde Park. At Speakers’ Corner, Singaporeans can come along and have their say about their country. Jay Lamey spoke to Sinapan Samidorai from the Think Centre in Sinagpore, who says although it allows free speech, there are still some Government restrictions in place.
