Much of the focus of today’s events at the APEC summit has been on deals brokered between Australia and China for security and climate change intiatives. Chinese President Hu Jintao has also met with Australian leaders in Sydney to discuss ways to increase China’s economic expansion. But one group who held a peaceful conference and march today, says the APEC agenda has ignored one vital area – human rights abuses in China. Activist group Free China says crimes against humanity are being committed every day – but nobody is listening to victims’ cries for help. National President of Free China, Sandra Hettingh, spoke to the Wire from the march and said at least SOME people were listening to their message.
