Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie says ex-service men and women are being forced to wait far too long to see specialist doctors, leading to higher rates of mental ill health.

Data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare shows between 2013 and 2020, more than four-thousand former Defence Force members presented to an emergency department for intentional self-harm or suicidal ideation.

Senator Lambie says veterans are being pushed down the waiting list for specialist appointments.
