While many people know about the Stolen Generations, few people are aware that around 500,000 white children were, throughout Australia’s history, placed in institutional and out of home care. Termed the “Forgotten Australians” in a 2004 inquiry, many of these children suffered gross abuse and neglect. This week-end “CLAN”- the Care Leavers of Australia, Network, opened their first office in the city of Bankstown, NSW. It’s a significant stepping stone, for those who seek re-dress for past wrongs.
