Today, the third inquiry into institutionalised children in Australia was released. The Inquiry found that they were subject to widespread emotional, physical and sexual abuse at the hands of those organisations charged with their care. Over half a million children have been affected, and the report makes a comprehensive set of recommendations targeting these problems and enabling the healing process to begin for many survivors of abuse. Democrats Senator for Western Australia, Andrew Murray, initiated the Inquiry.
