Foreign Ministers of the ASEAN countries and the European Union ended a meeting on the weekend, at Nuremburg in Germany, saying they had radically increased levels of co-operation. The Wire’s Brussels-based correspondent, Lee Duffield, attended the gathering. He says that both sides showed signs of relief that their chief concerns – about trade, peace-building, and climate protection – were not overshadowed by political disagreements. However, as he reports, some issues that DID cause tension among the thirty-seven Foreign Ministers who attended.
