A team of scientists at Murdoch University have pulled an unexpected amount of goldfish from the estuaries of Western Australia, during fish surveys last year.

Biologist James Tweedley, part of the team behind the discovery, reveals further research has shown the household pets are in fact salt water resilient.

The new findings, however, may pose a serious threat to our native Australian species and their ecosystems.
