The federal government has today announced a new country of origin food labelling system, to be introduced by the end of the year. The reforms come in the wake of the frozen berry hepatitis scare earlier this year which saw the government set up a task force to look at how food labelling could be improved. But consumer activist groups say the new food labels are ambiguous and won’t give consumers the information they need to make informed choices about products.
