Para meeting with MOL LNG Transport (Europe), whose vessel rescued him and other survivors from their sinking boat off Christmas Island in 2009

Para Paheer is lucky to be alive. As a Tamil growing up in  Sri Lanka he endured repression and horror. The final bloodshed of the three decade civil war drove him to risk his life on a boat to Australia. That boat sank eight years ago today, with Para among the survivors.   On that poignant anniversary Para and his friend and sponsor Alison Corke are launching a book The Power of Good People in which Para shares his story to thank all those who saved him along the way.
