A young family from Perth are taking the issue of homelessness into their own hands, by opening their future home to refugees. Jarrod, Teresa and their son Tyson have appealed to the public, raising six hundred thousand dollars to purchase a house suitable for three families.
Refugees often struggle to settle into a new country and there can be problems with showing a solid rental history and references. This is one reason the family has chosen to help their future housemates find their feet.Jarrod McKenna, who first tried to secure a loan, says even though his family will benefit from the project, financial gain is not a motivation.
