Even in a prosperous country like Australia, the problem of homelessness is alive and well. Many have criticised existing programs that attempt to address the issue, saying they avoid looking the elephant in the room – the lack of affordable housing. Common Ground is a new housing initiative, approaching homelessness on a holistic level by providing an affordable place to call home for those in need, and a more socially inclusive alternative to boarding houses and the Housing Trust.
