“I fled my country for my life so I could have a future. But now I have no future.” These are the words of a refugee resettled on Nauru, an island with 90% unemployment and little infrastructure. Despite being released from detention, the group of 50 refugees say that they are being forced to live on $12 a day; drinking unclean water and unable to even buy soap. Human rights advocates say that Nauru is nowhere for a refugee to build a life, but the Australian Government appears unwilling to make changes to their offshore policy anytime soon.
