Young people in the pacific region had hoped to hear the voices of experts on educational, social and development issues when they get together for the UNESCO-backed youth festival in Fiji, which opens on Saturday. But the ruling military government of Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama has banned a number of speakers in what is being viewed as just the latest crackdown on freedom of speech, since the coup in 2006.
