Four protestors were arrested today after a rally in Melbourne against mining exploration in Bacchus Marsh. The rally organised by Friends of the Earth was in response to a bid by a Western Australian company to explore the area for brown coal.
The farmers are also fighting against Australia’s current mining laws which see exploration allowed in farm land against the property owner’s wishes.Friends of the Earth are worried that the Victorian Government is operating under a double standard and that we could see exploration creeping into Australian cities.
