Queensland policeman Chris Hurley was cleared two weeks ago of the assault and manslaughter of Mulrunji Doomadgee on Palm Island. But this week, his family has promised to launch further legal action, and will pursue a civil suit against the Queensland police service and possibly the police minister. The family’s lawyer says there are issues about whether the arrest was unlawful which could open up its own line of liability.
