This morning Fairfax Media announced it will cut 1900 editorial and printing staff over the next three years. Leading titles, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age are expected to become tabloid size by March next year, with a focus on digital content – much of which will soon be behind a paywall.

This comes as billionaire Gina Rinehart is increasing her stake in the company. She is believed to have bought almost 20 per cent of the company’s shares.
