Earlier this week Facebook settled with the US Federal Trade Commission in a bid to put its ongoing privacy issues behind it. The settlement saw the social networking giant agree to independent auditing of its privacy settings every two years.

Despite these changes information on Facebook still remains public and able to be used in Australian courts as evidence.The US settlement may be a a good start but in the end Facebook can never be completely private in the eyes of the law.
