The footage of Australian cattle being treated cruelly in Indonesian abbatoirs has now led to the government announcing a temporary ban on live exports. The meat industry says this could mean the loss of as many as 13000 jobs, and that some countries are not equipped to deal with frozen meat. Online lobby group GetUp ran a petition on the issue. Spokesperson Skye Laris responded to some of those concerns.
