Whether it’s ice, heroin, cannabis, caffeine or sugar, we all have an opinion on the ethics of drug use. Substance abuse is an increasing problem in Australia. The word addiction has been stigmatised, and some drugs are considered more ethical than others. Matt Noffs has just published his book called Breaking the Ice: How We Will Get Through Australia’s Methamphetamine Crisis. He’ll be joined by world leader in drug research and policy, Nicole Lee, at Sydney panel The Ethics of Addiction tomorrow night. The Wire caught up with them both to find out the effect of ethics on drug policy, public opinion and harm reduction.
