This week we heard about the tragic case of a woman with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome in jail for 18 months without a trial in Western Australia. The Northern Territory Government is now considering legislation that could see pregnant women who drink thrown in jail.

The issue has caused controversy within organisations and amongst some experts. Minister John Elferink says the Northern Territory Government is just bringing the conversation to the community to begin a discussion about it.
