This month sparks the start of plastic free July, with experts urging the fashion industry to stop the use of plastics in textiles.

Around 62 percent of fabrics sold in Australia are made with synthetic materials.

Micro-plastics shed from these textiles contributing significantly to environmental pollution.

The Wire’s, Vanessa Gatica, speaks with Dr Tamzin Rollason, a specialist in sustainable consumption of fashion from RMIT University, about the widespread presence of plastic fabrics.
