Experts show darker side of Olympic host
Organ transplantation makes for a valuable industry in China. Any claims of human rights abuses occurring in the industry have the potential to damage not only the Chinese Government’s reputation, but also slash tourist numbers just in time for the Beijing Olympics. International experts have compiled a report into the atrocities committed against Falun Gong practitioners, and have visited forty countries presenting their evidence. However it hasn’t been an easy road: the experts have encountered criticism, threats and downright indifference to their cause. Before the next forum tonight, Canadian human rights lawyer David Matas, Canadian former Crown prosecutor and MP David Kilgour and executive director of the Assocation for Asian Research in the United States Erping Zhang, joined the Wire to talk about what they hope to bring to light. Mr Kilgour started by explaining their report.
