Experts pushing towards open source science
In spirit of the first UN International Day of Women in Science, we spoke to Research Chemist of the University of Sydney Dr Alice Williamson, regarding her involvement in the “Open Source Malaria” project. Alice opened up to us about the value of open source research, including how this kind of approach may function to reduce industry expenses and increase the speed of developing effective cures. Members of the Open Source Malaria project publish their research openly for other professionals to observe. Dr. Williamson insists that is an effective solution for unnecessary overlapping in research that may often occur as separate research teams work towards a common cure.
