Australia is the only country in the world with a racist constitution. This, and the exclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, is what campaigners for Indigenous recognition are trying to change. Last week, government voted to extend their campaign for recognition by three years in the hope that an eventual referendum will be successful. A new book by George Williams and Megan Davis ‘Everything You Need To Know About The Referendum To Recognise Indigenous Australians’ explores what a referendum would look like, and what a yes vote would mean.
