Even Victoria’s cold climate Ash forests are at risk of bushfire

We’ve all heard that the Victorian Bush is going to be exposed to more risks of bushfire this summer. But it’s not only the dry stringybark forests around Kinglake hit on Black Saturday that are at risk. Ian Ferguson, Professor Emeritus of Forrest Science, University of Melbourne, says the damper Ash forests south and east of Kinglake and around Wallabie Creek are also a fire danger thanks to climate change. He says management of these forests needs to be more attuned than it currently is to the role of fire.
