ETS – could defeat lead to a better solution
The defeat of the governments complex and expensive Emissions Trading Scheme is today being celebrated by a bizarre mix of climate change deniers, farmers and committed greenies. Greens spokesperson on climate change Christine Milne says the Greens have nothing in common with the others and their hope is that now they can have more constructive discussions with government. She says Copenahgen wil, change attitudes considerably. Story also features Ian Dunlop, former senior executive of Royal Dutch Shell and former chair of the Australian Coal Association. He is now an independent commentator on climate and energy issues. He’s also hopeful that the death of the ETS legislation in its current form can only lead to better solutions.
