An alleged leader of Spanish separatist group Eta has been arrested in a village south of Paris, along with two other operatives. Ibon Gogeascoechea has been on the run since 1997, after a foiled attempt to bomb Spain’s King Juan Carlos at the opening of the Guggenheim museum in the country’s northern Basque region. He’s the fifth Eta leader captured since late 2008. With an overwhelming majority of the Basque country supporting non-violent, political resolution with Spain – are 40 years of violent struggle coming to an end?
