Essendon players held responsible for doping

Today the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the World Anti Doping Agency’s appeal against the AFL tribunal decision to clear 34 current and former players from Essendon Football Club for taking performance enhancing drugs. Current players now face a further 12 month suspension from the game. There is some criticism that the penalty is very harsh, but the World Anti Doping Code is a one-size fits all approach to tackling drug cheats.
