Equality for women going backwards in Australia

From positive beginnings in the early 20th century when women were given the vote, to the women’s movement of the 1970’s-Australia has been seen as a world leader in equality between the sexes. Despite once being a former model of world’s best practice, much of our good work has now been undone according to a new report published by the Australian National University. One of the report’s authors, Dr Sarah Maddison from the University of New South Wales, has been long associated with the women’s movement, both as a researcher and an activist. Despite her close connection even she was shocked by her report, which she describes as a depressing read.
