The Environmental Protection Authority has ruled out an assessment of Western Australia’s controversially baited drums lines for the capture of potentially dangerous sharks. The EPA received 23,000 public comments referring to the drum lines but it was found by them that the environmental impact was negligible due to the 13-week time frame of the program.

This comes just days after WA Supreme Court dismissed an injunction sought by the activist group Sea Shepard in reference to the legislation.
